Monkeys are among my favorite animals. Not only do they jump on their beds against the doctor’s orders, but also, they can climb up ropes! See?
When I was at your house for the 2016 holidays, I encountered an alligator, a shark, and a tiger, all of whom grabbed and bit my ankles from under the kids’ table! These animals slithered, swam, and crawled around the table, sometimes even growling at me and pinching me. It was totally unacceptable. I did manage to get some photographic evidence, so if you see any of the three wild creatures featured below, will you please tell them they’re in a huge heap of trouble?
One of the three rascals shown above bears a striking resemblance to your cousin Willie. On the morning of a sleepover that he, Eliza, and I had in your guest room during the 2017 holidays, I woke up to Willie tapping me on the shoulder and saying, “Aunt Katie, it’s morning.” I opened my eyes and said hi to him and to Eliza, who was watching from her bed nearby. Then Willie asked, “Can you be the zoocatcher?”
I knew what he meant because he’d asked me five billion times the day before to be the zoocatcher. Did you know that Zoo Catcher is the name for the glass box with stuffed animals and a claw inside, which you operate with controls to try to catch a stuffed animal with the claw? Well, in Willie’s case, I was the zoocatcher, and it meant I chased Eliza, Molly, and him around your house five billion times, while they pretended to be animals trying to escape.
Oh, right—you remember this! Every time Willie asked me to be a zoocatcher, you said, “Uppies” … so I picked you up, and you and I chased your cousins and your sister together. Indeed, those three and Patrick are my favorite animals.
Oh, did you want to know about real animals? OK. My favorite ones are dogs. Here are photos I found online of some adorable dogs:
I also love horses, especially brown ones. When I was a child, I rose horses at Girl Scout Camp every summer, and I was especially excited when my camp counselors assigned me to a brown one, like this horse I found online:
Wild animals are the best, especially the ones I saw up close in Kenya in 2009. Some of my favorite animal photos I took on that trip appear below, and they include a hungry, hungry hippo; a baboon waving at the camera from under his mama’s tummy; and a leopard in a tree, camouflaging his spots. (Can you see them?)
Cartoon animals are also fantastic. Can you name some of all of the cartoon animals in this photo?
I also like the sea lions at New York’s Central Park Zoo. I saw them with Eliza, Willie, and Uncle Erik in November. Oh, and look at this picture, where the sea lions are in an enclosed structure, but those animals who bit me at your house during the 2016 holidays are not even in a cage! I’d better start running away; they look scary!
What are your favorite animals, Abbey-boo? Do you like the growling kind, the barking variety, the chirping type, or something else? I see you here with an Elmo (an animal of sorts, I suppose) and a mouse! What other animals interest you?
